Fibrin glue as a novel therapy for contracted socket in comparison to mitomycin-c and triamcinolone acetonide at Dr. Soetomo General Academic Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia

Background: Contracted socket is still a major problem for patients with anophthalmia. The main factor this condition inflammation and fibrosis, which result in conjunctival shortening. Myofibroblasts that express α-SMA are the primary mediators of anophthalmic contraction. Methods: One healthy eye New Zealand white rabbit were randomly selected evisceration divided into four treatment groups, each five rabbits. Each group received single subconjunctival injection different agent. Group, I was control no injection, Group II MMC 0.4 mg/ml, III TCA 40 4 fibrin glue. After 14 days, animals euthanized, samples submitted histopathological analysis. A monoclonal antibody applied, pathologists provided IRS score sample. differences expression statistically analyzed significant level p <0.05 Result: All groups displayed decrease compared to (p<0.05) as sorting p=0.007, glue p= 0.009. most effective at reducing (p=0.004). Surprisingly, there between MMC, TCA, when they evaluated independently. Conclusion: may be used novel prevent contracture actively healing sockets.
